I've reviewed your system details. Over the past year you've noticed lower gaming performance. Consider upgrading components or investigating potential bottlenecks before deciding.

You mentioned concerns about performance issues with the 2080 GPU. Could you share details like the specific games you're playing, settings adjustments, resolution choices, and your monitor specifications? Also, let me know if you're using VRR or v-sync, and what your current FPS targets are.

I have been getting 60-80 fps on rust recently and its kind of a bummer, i have a 1440p 165 hz LG nad i run 1440p, it doesnt have VRR and i dont use vsync. I use the worst graphics settings i can on rust and it still doesnt seem like enough.

These frame rates have stayed the same in the same titles compared to before. Check if they’re lower in newer games versus earlier ones. Keep in mind that matching graphics settings from past games will likely reduce performance. Your GPU is three generations old, which usually signals it’s time to consider an upgrade—depending on your priorities. If you want consistent visual quality and stable FPS, upgrading makes sense. However, if you’re okay with reduced performance or lower graphics detail, a newer GPU won’t be necessary.

I’m thinking about this as if you were comparing past and present performance in Rust. If that’s not accurate, please clarify. Online multiplayer titles like Rust often get frequent updates, which can raise processing demands unnoticed and reduce speed. It’s also possible your CPU or GPU cooling agent has dried up, leading to throttling, or there might be extra software consuming CPU resources. Hardware components don’t just naturally slow down; external factors usually play a role—like increased workload from malware or OS updates, or thermal issues such as low storage space.
