s about new operating systems for PCs
Hey there. Just placed my new PC with Windows 8.1 installed on the old hard drive from my previous machine. I have a few questions I’d like clarified! Q1) Will all the programs remain on my old hard drive once I switch to this new PC, or will they be deleted? Q2) My old PC had Windows 8 installed, and now I’m installing Windows 8.1. Could this affect certain features or cause issues? Also, here’s the build info: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/TBZxkL. Since this is my first time building a system, I’m planning it for gaming and schoolwork—should it hold up well?
Ensure the hard drive is properly connected and powered in the new motherboard. Windows 8 doesn’t automatically upgrade to 8.1 without a paid update, so check if the manufacturer offers such a free upgrade option.
I was planning to upgrade unless you invest in something costly, which would make it compatible with the G3258. The store I’m ordering from doesn’t do that updates, so I’m skipping it. Plus, I don’t really need it.
Never let it drop, everything’s fine. If you had Windows 8, you’d get 8.1 for free, but it’s now more expensive than 8.1 itself, so I chose 8.1. Also, I’m getting a Microsoft Tablet for school with Windows 8.1 installed, so I need to adjust. Plus, 850W should be enough to run three R9 290 graphics cards.
You don't seem to need an update, are you? What were you discussing? @ Benana101
I believe I should transfer all my games, drivers, and other necessary programs onto a portable hard drive. Then I can wipe this drive clean and reformat it before copying everything back in.
