So why is it so hidden knowlage. Shouldn't it be like the most important spec in stores. And why asus website don't worn about this. So if i understand it correctly my Ryzen 5 2600 will not reach it's maximum boost speed, voltage to cpu will drop... but motherboard will not just randomly explode after 5 hours of gaming in a hot summer day. Is Everest is still a thing to check PC components and test stuff?
I really don't understand it. Maybe because it's too complicated for the marketing team? It's crucial, yet also extremely intricate—it can take an hour just to explain why VRM X outperforms VRM Y. It's highly likely the 2600 will function well on a B320 board, provided the BIOS is updated, since the B320 was initially released only with the 1000-series. It doesn't require a lot of power, so it doesn't need a powerful VRM. The basic guideline is: choose a board with a heatsink on the VRM. I usually skip anything without one. VRMs generate heat, and that heat must be dissipated somewhere. Even a small heatsink is much better than none at all. Everest is no longer in use, but it's now called AIDA64 and is widely used. It's excellent, though not completely free. HWinfo is a useful tool for monitoring and testing components.

If you're short on time for researching motherboards, there are trustworthy tier lists available early for each generation (just search online). A decent B450 motherboard costs around 100 USD, offering little extra value. I remember Gamers Nexus posted a video about VRMs heating. They used a lower-end board with bare VRMs and ran an overclocked CPU on it. The setup worked well as long as the VRMs stayed below their maximum temperature limits, but once they exceeded it, the system would throttle or crash intermittently. Under normal loads it functioned fine, but beyond that threshold they didn’t give any warning until it was too late. Only by installing thermocouples could the issue be detected. Motherboards are intricate components, so marketing around them often involves vague promises. If implementing such solutions is costly and doesn’t boost sales, they’re likely to be phased out.
