What's the simplest method to find the starting Vcore? Should I run the CPU at its default speed and measure the Vcore? Also, since there will likely be some voltage changes even at stock speed, how do I identify which value to adjust by subtracting 0.05?
It varies by manufacturer. If you're at -0.05 now, simply add 0.05 and you'll reach the starting point. A stress test will give you a stable load vcore. Intel mentions 1.52 as the maximum safe value. Idle vcore is another aspect; you might be unstable there but stable under load or vice versa. Usually, instability occurs during idle, so people often use negative offset and boost turbo voltage to raise the load vcore for better performance. This allows you to enjoy both low power and high output.
Llc also influences vcore, especially with scaling levels. Still, keep an eye on vcore until it stabilizes. I don't know what other adjustments you made, but you probably shouldn't change anything else except vcore and multiplier.
I was attempting to reduce the voltage because my temperatures reached mid-70s during burn tests and initial 95 runs.
I'm also checking how far I can lower the voltage while maintaining a consistent 4.3ghz output.
The other adjustments are just extra steps that aren't necessary. What you really need to change is multi and vcore. C states are sleep states. You should understand what hyperthreading is. It's why the i7 2600k cost $100 more than the i5 2500k. With multithreading becoming more common now than it was nine years ago, Ht might not allow you to run at as high a clock speed, but it will still improve performance. It could make your current setup unstable. But if it's stable, stick with what you have. If not, it would have been much easier to start with vcore around 1.35 and try a 4.5ghz, then check for stability before deciding.
I'm not sure about setting the vcore or using offset, but I thought you could only do static or offset. I turned off hyperthreading because I mainly use it for gaming and was told it might raise temperatures and cause instability. Should I enable all cstates and ht? Thanks again for the help!
Yes, all settings should be standard except for vcore and multi. The offset determines how you configure vcore.
