The PVP feels quick compared to past games. It’s fast, but I wonder if it’s too rapid like Bloodbound or similar to Bloodbound 2.0. As for the core game, it offers maps, gameplay, and a strong focus on PVP versus PVE. The map design seems to aim for a balance, though some feel it leans toward speed rather than the atmospheric feel of Dark Souls. The map size is comparable to or larger than in Dark Souls 2, which might explain the bigger scale.
Start it now—it brings back a lot of memories from Dark Souls 1. If you enjoyed that title, you won’t want to miss this one.
It's extremely quick because poise does very little.
From my perspective, it doesn't match the original well, though I haven't played Bloodborne yet and have heard comparisons.
Personally, it seems less expansive, possibly because of the player's greater movement, not because the map is actually smaller.
I finished it in about two-thirds the time compared to the original, and I usually try my best in these games. Still, it was enjoyable.
Major updates to PvP bring several shifts: backstabbing is largely removed because of new lag handling, making the old roll-and-stab mechanics obsolete. Short of someone driving the vehicle, the DS2-style roll and stab system is no longer relevant. Counterattacks remain similar to their original form. Spell usage in PvP is rare, mostly limited to weapon enhancements. The gameplay moves quickly, matching or exceeding DS2's speed. Still, the lingering lag from past combat feels noticeable—expect ghost hits and quick counters before normal animations appear.
