Hi, So here's the question, I am currently building a new spect up new PC. This is what i have came up with CPU : Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard : Asus ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) ATX LGA1151 Memory : G.Skill Trident Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory Video Card : Asus GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB STRIX GAMING OC Case : Corsair Carbide Series 678C ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply : Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W Modular ATX. If you didint notice i dont have any CPU coolers.So this is why i need to ask you. Witch one is gonna fit in the case and with the LGA1151 socket (CPU gonna be overclocked),and performs best,and features of them.So let me put the list that i was thinking of. 1: NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 2: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 3: Corsair H100i PRO So im up to you to have your Pros and cons and for your recomandations. Note:Im using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 1g 1 g Thermal Paste on the cooler that i will be using. Thanks for the help
Ensure no mechanical issues beyond fan concerns and prevent leaks from an AIO. It works equally well as any other cooler.
9700k offers the superior value unless the cost jumps dramatically. It provides enhanced cooling without delidding (thank you for the soldering) and lacks HT, eliminating any risk from related vulnerability fixes. This model stands out among high-end Z390 boards with the highest VRM temps, though it still falls short of strong selling points. Generally, Asus Z390 boards aren’t particularly attractive due to their premium pricing. Gigabyte and MSI deliver better options, such as the Aorus Master or Ace lines. 3600MHz CL16 RAM is preferred over 2070 Strix, which tends to be more expensive and slower. The 678C’s front panel is mostly sealed, making silent operation difficult because high fan speeds are needed for adequate airflow. Power supplies over 750W seem excessive for a board like the 9900k + 2080Ti, but this is just one concern. The X62 model performs best, the DRP4 design minimizes failure risk (no pump involved), and any heatpipes leaking are unlikely to cause significant issues—mostly minor evaporation with little substance.

CL refers to the CAS latency. The initial number in the timing list is significant because DRP4 supports 44mm tall sticks, matching the Trident Z RGB perfectly. It fits the Aorus Master's heatsinks without issues. The cooling performance meets requirements without requiring excessive voltage. Alternatives like NH-D15 or Cryorig R1 Ultimate offer similar results at a lower cost. If performance is lacking, it’s a reasonable compromise.

Upgrading SSD and HDD is worthwhile since SSD speed and longevity depend heavily on size. At current prices, investing in at least 500GB makes sense due to the best value. A fast NVMe drive could rival the Samsung 970 Evo at a lower price.
HDD is better for higher capacity per dollar.
Graphics cards vary: saving $100 won’t hurt performance much.
I switched my PSU to one with more components than needed.
The 678C case only has three fans, which isn’t enough for quiet operation at low RPMs.
Phanteks static pressure fans are positioned front and back, with the ML140 Pro handling airflow efficiently at 1600RPM without excessive noise.
The case includes SP140 fans, which provide solid performance but produce noticeable noise. I’m unsure why Corsair chose these in a quiet-focused design, but it works.
