s about 6700k voltage monitoring
My voltage is configured at 1.325v in BIOS. During stress tests with XTU, Hwmonitor displays fluctuating vcore readings—ranging from 1.298 to 1.351—and similar variations on CPU-z, which stays between 1.312 and 1.328. I recognize these are normal error margins.
I’m checking to confirm that the changes I’m making actually stabilize and function properly. I don’t want to artificially raise the voltage just to get a higher reading every time.
Current setup: 6700k, Z170A motherboard, H100i v2 cooler @ 4.6ghz.
My aim is to undervolt as much as possible. Are these tools misreporting and should I rely on BIOS settings? What’s a typical 4.6ghz voltage?
Also, note that Hwmonitor usually shows consistent values under load, though they’re typically about 50mV lower than the BIOS setting.
That's quite typical, but if you aim to lower the voltage further, you might check the BIOS and adjust the voltage offset to "-" with as much precision as needed. For example, setting it around 1.3 could work. The offset option lets your CPU automatically reduce its voltage when possible.
