Key details: Ryzen 7 2700X from Gigabyte AB350N-ITX Kraken X61 AIO cooler. CPU often stays at or above 4GHz even without work, causing high idle temps around 65°C. This started after using Ryzen Master, which claimed everything was at stock speed. Previously, a motherboard overclocking tool helped but didn’t work well since it came from Gigabyte and its software was unreliable. Ryzen Master indicated no boost, while manual mode lets you set lower speeds but limits performance gains. The balanced power plan also didn’t help. You need CPU to run slower when idle and boost closer to its rated speed during load. Any suggestions?
Erase the CMOS. Refresh the BIOS and chipset drivers, then verify.
Reset the CMOS by removing the battery for a few minutes or disconnecting external connections such as the power adapter. Also, ensure your chipset drivers are up to date.
I followed all the steps carefully. I left the CMOS disconnected for ten minutes since it was very difficult to reconnect, and I kept the power button pressed while it was off to ensure complete discharge. I also refreshed the chipset drivers. It’s still running at 4 GHz.
