Hello everyone, I'm assisting a friend with assembling a fresh system remotely. The specifications are as follows: all-new parts – MSI Tomahawk Mag Wi-Fi X570 (BIOS updates pending), Gigabyte RTX 3080, Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB DDR4 3600, 4TB NVMe SSD, a power supply of at least 750W (details unknown), and Windows 10 Home Premium 64-bit. After facing several challenges during setup, a motherboard return and some troubleshooting steps led to the graphics driver installation failure. The NVIDIA GeForce game ready driver didn't work; attempts to update Windows or check device manager revealed the GPU wasn't detected – it showed up as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead of the expected card. I explored BIOS settings, reset the system, checked power connections, and even tried using a different PCIe slot. The issue seems linked to an outdated installation media, which is about five years old. I've gone through various troubleshooting steps and listed what I've tried or planned next. Let me know if you have any suggestions or insights. Thanks!

It seems odd that the screen is working despite everything. The latest Windows version I know is probably H2Version or something similar. I might upgrade now and run a DDU to remove any leftover issues before attempting to reinstall the graphics driver. Updated September 16, 2022 by Bombastinator
