In my opinion, cleaning the thermal paste might become frustrating. I expect to encounter a used version with many layers of dried paste in the gaps. It could also serve as a useful exercise for practicing the right amount of paste.

I'm curious about potential mounting options and different locking solutions, similar to what Intel offers: https://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-Cont...B0B811J7D9

It seems interesting to me, though it will be concealed behind the cooler.

You're expecting something special, and honestly it does seem interesting. I'm guessing the amount of profanity I'll use will depend on how much paste there is and how detailed the cleaning gets.

It's unique, but for something you'll need to engage with a few times over its life, I wouldn't invest too much time in planning it.

It shouldn't be too bad to remove thermal paste from the IHS on these newer AMD AM5 chips. The Intel X299 shares a similar design, but lacks the tiny SMD components between notches found in AM5 processors. Cleaning up would likely require a lot of effort and patience, which makes the process frustrating for many.
