Thanks for your input! I'm looking to understand opinions and real-world experiences about the Ryzen 7 5700X versus the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. The X costs £147 while the X3D is £210. My gaming setup includes Minecraft, Helldivers 2, Call of Duty, and GTA, all on a 144Hz 1440p display. I plan to add another 16GB of RAM and possibly a better cooler later. Research suggests the 3D model runs smoother, but is it worth the extra £63? I usually keep my CPU and GPU for around four years. Your current build is: Ryzen 5 3600 Corsair VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 XC3 Ultra 8GB MSI AMD Ryzen B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AM4 ATX Motherboard. Keep it quiet! System Power 9 600 Watts 80+ Bronze PSU keep it quiet! dark rock slim with a sleek fractal design torrent.

What processor are you using? For instance, a 3700x would not be a significant improvement over a 5700x.

The 3D offers significant improvements for gaming. However, its value depends on your needs. I believe the difference in performance would be around 5 frames per second at most. Avoid adding extra RAM; upgrade your setup to a larger one instead, to prevent XMP problems. Many makers no longer produce identical RAM with the same chips, which can cause headaches if you do it yourself.

You're considering upgrading from your Ryzen 5 3600 to the X3D. The extra cost makes sense because you'll enjoy higher refresh rates and run newer games like Helldivers 2, Minecraft, and GTA. Older titles such as Call of Duty benefit more from single-core performance, so the X3D will be a better fit for your current setup.

Thanks for the response. Your specs are now included, but it’s tough to decide what’s best. If the main advantage is just a 5 fps boost with no other perks, it probably won’t justify the cost. I’ll keep that in mind and search for 2x16GB options.

Thanks for your response. Initially, I was seeking general guidance and was advised to choose a processor and RAM. After some research, I'm struggling to pick between the two options. I enjoy playing a wide range of games—from casual strategy titles to high-end AAA releases like GTA—so I need something versatile. Appreciate the useful information!

The key difference comes from a 5700X3D with just £68 extra. Compared to a 5700X priced higher, this offers better value at +100EUR or more.

The 5700X would indeed behave quite differently compared to a 3600. This is due to its higher frequency and output characteristics.

It's more reliable, improving around 15%. With 5700X3D you could boost gaming performance by about 15% compared to AM5.
