ryzen 7 2700x vs. ryzen 5 3600
In India the prices of AMD's Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 3600 are quite similar. For my personal PC build, I’ll be focusing on video editing and playing some recent triple A games. I’m a bit unsure about which option is best—please help me make the right choice. Thanks!
The 2700X offers two extra cores which makes it ideal for video editing. Its performance in gaming is also solid. Neither processor is significantly lacking; they both provide good results for gaming and editing tasks.
However, the 2700x's single-core speed is much slower and it doesn't work with AMD's hyper-threading version.
What a surprise! It handles hyper threading just like at 3600. Although its single-core performance is a bit lower, it remains superior for editing tasks.
The Ryzen 7 2700X features an 8-core, 16-thread processor. Without SMT support it would be considered an 8-core, 8-thread model. The Ryzen 5 3600 offers a 6-core, 12-thread configuration. AMD Ryzen CPUs lacking SMT capability include the 3 series (except 3100 and 3300X) and the 3500, plus a few other manufacturer-specific chips.
