Hi, I need advice with choosing a cpu to pair with my rtx 3070ti. At this time, it will be used solely for gaming. I have almost the whole setup, except for the processor which I'm undecided on. The idea is to play in 1440p WQHD at 60+ fps, mostly singleplayers, because I'm sure any choice will achieve enough performance in competitive games. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/zBTL3Z I was planning to buy a 5600x and replace it in 2-3 years when the new generation settles down, but I'm not sure if it's not better to go for the 58/59. Keep it for longer and replace the graphics card then instead. Budget allows, but is it 'worth' it? Because I would also have to replace my arctic 34 esport duo with better cooler.

Looking ahead, if future AMD releases might change socket designs, I’d opt for a top-tier CPU and upgrade the motherboard, RAM (DDR5 might arrive in 2-3 years) along with a new processor. For now, a 5800X with an Arctic Cooler seems solid. Eight cores should handle 1440p well. The jump to a 5900X offers only slight gains—mainly for gaming, not everyday multitasking. Excellent GPU pick! I hope you managed it reasonably.

The Arctic might not provide enough power for the undervolted 5800x.

It could be sufficient, but if you wish to invest a bit more in the cooler, then a superior Air cooler or a reliable AIO would suffice. Options include air coolers such as Noctua NH-U12A and higher models, dark rock and upwards Scythe Fuma 2 Arctic freezer 50 AIOs, and arctic liquid freezer II 240mm and above along with nearly any other quality AIO, 240mm and above. The Arctic stands out among its cost!
