I recently upgraded my system with a Ryzen 5 5500 to replace the older 2200g. I updated the BIOS to the latest version for a Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi, which advertises support for this chip. However, when the PC starts up, it displays the American Micro trends splash screen without any time indicator. I've already swapped in a second CPU and successfully booted with the old 2200g. I've been working on it for a few days but still facing issues. My current build includes: Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi Team Group TForce 16GB, 3200 MHz, EVGA GTX 1080 ACX 3.0, EVGA 650W Gold PSU, WD Blue 500 GB NVMe drive.

My money would be on BIOS update or just plain incompatibility. BIOS would have to be updated with your 2200g in place, and no guarantees. I'm not sure any less than a B550 will run a 5000-series, Zen3 or not. B450 MIGHT, and I mean MIGHT. But I wouldn't bet on it. If a new board is necessary, I recommend the Asus TUF B550-PLUS or TUF B550-PRO. Both have good VRM cooling for more powerful processors, and the PRO has a header for front panel USB 3.2. Can you start with fewer RAM resources? Did you check the original post? The site offers details to help with official assistance for Ryzen 5000 models, and OP confirmed the needed version to run this chip.

I handled it. The details show this board needs ver F62 with the CPU. The OP hasn't specified the exact BIOS version, just that it's the latest (verifiable or not). Possibly the board is faulty, the BIOS is damaged, or the OP has swapped two CPUs in a row—unlikely. I should also note this isn't the first time I've encountered this issue with certain Ryzen models, particularly on older boards. It's just a few cents; a B450 would be my last choice for running a 5000-series now. Also, MSI only provided their own BIOS update for the 5900X they wanted, which could have damaged my B450M Bazooka after purchase, forcing me to wait six months on an untested CPU while I planned a full rebuild. I've updated the F63b bios on the site, but F62 still didn't work. I also tried clearing RAM and swapping in another kit I had, but nothing changed. I suspect the issue might be with the motherboard—since I checked the spare chip on my wife's X470 board and it functioned perfectly. Still, the Aorus Pro Wifi doesn’t seem to match her ASUS X470 pro. I’ll probably need a new board next week once I get paid. Thanks for the assistance.

They mentioned it based on the board's age. I had to wait six months on a new chip due to the back-and-forth issues. My 5900X is in an Asus B550M-PLUS from January 2022.

I’m looking for a way to resolve this problem. I’m trying to upgrade my setup from 1500x to 5500 on a Gigabyte Ab350m gaming 3 MMO and facing serious difficulties. I installed the first BIOS update to f31 as recommended, then used the EC FW update tool. After that, I flashed through several BIOS versions—f40, 41, 50, and 51—but nothing seems to work. Gigabyte claims support for this model starting from the f51 BIOS version. It looks like you covered most bases, but I’m hoping there’s another solution beyond replacing the motherboard. This update was meant to be simple and affordable, yet it’s not going as planned.
