I own a Corsair water block attached to my CPU, but I'm worried about running the processor at high speeds because I haven't tried overclocking yet. What kind of speed should I start with?
usually, an all-core boost between 4.3 and 4.4 is doable for most people as long as they keep the voltage under 1.4v to avoid too much heat...of course, that depends on what chips you have in your system. It's probably better to learn about the trade-offs of overclocking Ryzen processors than Intel ones, because with Ryzen it isn't just about setting a number and getting faster everywhere. In my opinion, it is smarter to focus on RAM timings instead, since the performance boost from tweaking memory can be quite good if you get quality RAM.
Generally speaking, you can safely overclock your CPU cores between 4.3 and 4.4 GHz with most people staying around 1.4 volts to keep things cool... it will definitely depend on how lucky your chip is though! You should probably read more about the downsides of overcranking Ryzen chips in their 3000 series because things are totally different than when you overclock an Intel chip back then, where you just set a specific number and got better speed everywhere. In my opinion, it's smarter to focus on your RAM timings instead to get more power from the 3600x. You can get some serious performance boosts by changing your memory settings based on how good your RAM is.
