Ryzen 5 3600 paired with ASRock B450M Pro 4 Post – common problems reported
I think I have done all I can, but would appreciate your experience and knowledge. Build: Ryzen 5 3600 (100000031) ASRock b450m Pro4 Gigabyte 1650 Super Crucial Ballistix 3200 DDR4 ( BL2K8G32C16U4B) All items checked out as compatible with each other, but when booting up the system it stalled at the bios page. No keyboard commands with either usb or ps/2 keyboard would trigger a move forward, reset mobo by taking out battery, etc - but no change. So I took the following steps. Removed GPU Even though the ASRock box says 3000 compatible I used a Ryzen 5 2400g CPU to try and boot the PC thinking it was a BIOS issue. It booted up fine and was able to ensure the graphics card drivers and apps were installed to ensure this was causing a problem. Installed the GPU with 2400g and all worked fine Validated mobo bios was version 3.90 (latest version from site) Installed 3600 cpu and back to the same issue My conclusion is a bad CPU, but is that really the case here? Anything else I should try?
Gather a different motherboard and verify your CPU as well. Inspect for bent pins and other issues.
I received a new board and it performed identically in both tests, even though I initially assumed it was the MOBO. There were no bent pins, and it slipped in just fine.
I was struggling to identify the issue, but the other CPU verified it for me. I submitted a return with Amazon—they handle exchanges and replacements smoothly.
