Ryzen 5 3600 overheating at high temperatures may pose risks.
Hey, as mentioned in the title, when I render stuff (Cinebench r15 for example) my 3600 stays at a constant 81°C even 82°C sometimes. It is cooled by a Kraken M22 (120mm AIO) and I have 2 fans in the front of my mATX case to deliver air. My fan curves are set so that the pump goes 100% at 70°C and the fan goes 100% at 75°C. Are these temps normal for a 6c/12t cooled by a 120mm rad ? I have never seen any thermal throttling in task manager. (just so you know, I dont get these temps when gaming) So my real question is, are these temps ok for a CPU ? I know some intel ones go up to 100°C before throttling. Can it really shorten the lifespan of my CPU when some server ones run 100% 80°C for 20years non-stop and still work ? I know there is a lot of debate around this so what could be a final answer ?
It seems those temperatures are typical for a 120MM cooler. CPUs can manage up to 100°C, though it's still common for better hardware to last longer. I'm not entirely confident anymore. Still, I wouldn't be too concerned overall. However, if you have space and budget, a 2x120MM cooler would work well for anything with more than four cores. Air coolers are solid options, and AIOs perform similarly in cooling power.
I wouldn't be concerned about those temperatures. They're a bit high, but they shouldn't cause any issues. Since it's not during gameplay, it won't significantly impact your CPU's lifespan or performance.
Yea that's like one of the biggest debates lol. I belive the only way to kill a CPU is electron patchway deterioration, high voltage and physical damage because the CPUs protect themselves now by thermal throttling.
