Ryzen 5 3600 Operating temps
I just put in a Ryzen 5 3600 on an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max board with the stock cooler. Temperatures run between 35-40°C when idle and drop to 82°C under heavy use. I’m curious how many others have this setup and what their temps are. I want to try overclocking but am a bit concerned about heat buildup. I’m considering aftermarket coolers, but I’d like some more details first. Thanks!
Full load means the complete system is under maximum stress. AIDA64 testing involves this level, while in-game it's typically high. Your setup is a stock CPU cooler.
It runs smoothly between 30-40°C, but performance drops when you play at around 70°F with a powerful Dark Rock 4 and a somewhat limited setup.
I haven’t played many games lately, just got everything set up late last night. My score was 82 during the CPU-Z stress test for roughly 15 minutes. I’m planning to jump into gaming soon. Of course, I know this and mentioned in my original post that I’m considering aftermarket coolers already. Just wanted a baseline and heard what others who own the chip are getting.
And my setup includes a Cooler Master HAF EVO motherboard with three 120mm fans and two 80mm fans. You can find more details here: https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-HAF...00FFJ0H3Q/
Current readings are stable at 45-50°C. Running without overclocking the X-470 Strix board. Cinebench R20 shows about 70°C.
A bit late, but an FYI about the aftermarket for the 3600... A $20 GAMMAXX 400 has been keeping my OC to under 75°c with synthetic load stressing. (21.8°c ambient) It really isn't a hard chip to keep cool.
