Consider the cooling solution that matches your needs: the Ryzen 5 3600 pairs well with its built-in cooler, while the 2600X offers superior cooling options ideal for overclocking.

I'll choose the 3600 option.

The Ryzen 5 3600X suits 1080p games well, but for 1440p it performs much better. It also shines in workstation tasks where the 3600X struggles significantly.

Very low power? This machine has just 6 cores and 12 threads.

The architecture variations between the two generations are significant. It varies by use case, but if I had to choose one system, I'd go with a 3600 over a 2700X. There will be some edge cases where the latter works better, but the former is more future-oriented.

What resolution are you using? Which GPU do you have? I just made some comments about the importance of CPU choice. Usually, if you're playing at 1440p or 4K and don't have a very powerful GPU, a second generation setup is still quite close to a 3000-series model.
