Ryzen 5 1600 OC Help
Ryzen 5 1600 OC Help
I assembled my initial PC about a year ago (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c2phr6) and have recently begun experimenting with overclocking. I've conducted some research, but I continue to face challenges. I spent considerable time adjusting voltages and frequencies in Ryzen Master to achieve stability around 3.875GHz at 1.4V. My testing involved running Cinebench multiple times to confirm initial stability, followed by an hour-long Prime95 test with no errors and temperatures reaching up to 88-89°C. After completing these tests, I felt confident and resumed my routine. The next day, when I powered on the PC, it would restart several times before entering BIOS for further adjustments. I then reset the CPU to its default settings and restarted it. Through many attempts, I discovered that my system would even fail at 3.6GHz - 1.35V when turned off overnight and restarted in the morning. This happened despite my decision to stop using Ryzen Master entirely and manually overclock via BIOS, after seeing warnings against it. While I acknowledge some chance in CPU overclocking, I was uncertain whether all 1600 chips could maintain stability at that speed. I chose an MOBO because it had a strong reputation for overclocking and came with a highly rated aftermarket cooler. As someone very new to this process, I'm unsure what other approaches might work best—any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
The temperature isn't too high. My Ryzen 3 1200 won't exceed 3.8GHz at any safe voltage, even though some reach 4.1GHz.
