Hello everyone,
I wanted to share my thoughts on the current configuration. Please review the photo if you have a moment.
My setup details:
- Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3,85 GHz (initial BIOS setting: 1,343 MHz)
- Vengeance LPX 2933 MHz @ SOC 1.05
- Stock Wraith Spire
- Strix B-350F
- RX 580 stock, intending to undervolt (not aiming for GPU overclocking due to heat concerns; current temperature is already high at 78 on GTA V)
Test results:
- Cinebench 20 multi-thread pass: no freezing
- HCI: 800% with no errors, slight frequency drops observed
- OCCT CPU large data set: 5 hours, minor frequency reductions but no critical issues
Still working on:
- Prime95: small Ftf reached 80 in 10 minutes
Questions for you:
1. Is this configuration giving me a solid chip?
2. What is the safe voltage limit for regular overclocking? The BIOS suggests around 1.7, which I find hard to accept.
3. Should I run Prime95 at all? It feels like I’m risking my CPU’s lifespan for years of use, even during long GTA V sessions?
4. Does lowering the SOC affect overclocking or just the DRAM?
5. Should I keep enabling C-STATE after overclocking? Are there any downsides?
6. Regarding the frequency drop I noticed: is it normal stability behavior or could be a false reading? I can’t really get my temperature down to zero.
7. Cooler options under consideration: HYPER 212 LED vs. CORSAIR H45, or saving for H60?

No, at least you're going to do intensive video editing 24/7, you don't need that kind of stability since in any normal situation you'll push your CPU to that level.

No water coolers, at least you want a silent cooler and a broken pump. (Yeah I recommended them before, but with the high rate of pump failures it's definitely not worth it)

After updating Windows 10 and running HCI again under the same configuration, I noticed significant memory issues. It’s unclear whether the problem stems from HCI not being compatible with the latest Windows or from the BIOS itself. The stock clock appears normal during overnight tests. However, errors appear when setting the BIOS to 2933. Should I use another testing tool for comparison? Which one is more recommended?
