Hello everyone, I'm just starting with PC builds. I plan to assemble a desktop for personal use. I mainly use CAD programs like Solidworks and Catia, and I want to enjoy games such as GTA V and Far Cry 3 at 900p. My goal is to have a system that remains relevant for the next six years—doing some CAD work and playing games in medium graphics settings. After some research, I considered the AMD 3400G. Should I choose the AMD 3400G APU or wait until the 4000 series desktop APU arrives? I value your advice and suggestions. Thanks! Best regards.

The 3400G works well enough. Choosing the 4000 APU offers improved CPU speed and marginally reduced GPU performance. The GPU in the 4700G is a newer iteration of the Vega 8, making it slightly lagging compared to the latest Vega 11. Upgrading the Vega 11 to around 1500-1600 MHz would make it a powerful entry-level gaming setup, potentially matching my laptop's GTX 1050 4GB.

Do you require a system at the moment? If you're patient, wait. CAD may not integrate smoothly with an APU, but it really depends on the project size. Zen 2 APUs are quite promising, so if you can wait until Q3 or Q4 of this year, that would be ideal.
