Ryzen 3900x RAM issue
Ryzen 3900x RAM issue
When the new device arrives, I'll attempt it too. Also, I just purchased an additional 16GB of RAM to address the issue.
New memory? Did you receive another or replace the previous one? Another 16gb to fix which issue I’m really getting confused about. Let me clarify this again. With just two RAM sticks, they should automatically be in A2 and B2 by default—this isn’t a problem at all. If they run at the advertised speed, that’s great. Ryzen processors use dual-channel memory; adding more RAM increases the chance they won’t reach those speeds, so you might only get around 3200mhz instead of the expected 3600mhz.
I encountered issues with the system running at full speed due to technical limitations. In A2 B2 it works smoothly, while A1 B1 behaves differently. Single channel performance is stable at full speed. The manual doesn’t address this behavior, and I’ve received confirmation from Amazon that it was resolved.
They don't appear on the roster, CL15 3000 is, yet it's only compatible with two dimmers. CL16 3200 can be used with up to four dimmers.
Typically it works, though it isn't confirmed by Asus. It becomes an issue only when the device doesn't act as intended.
They operate at peak frequency in those slots, but the sticks should function identically in the other two slots.
I’ll try to simplify the explanation for you. The standard speed for DDR4 RAM is 2133 MHz. Anything faster than that is considered an overclock. Most makers test the highest stable speed they can get—around 3600 MHz—and claim their RAM works at that rate. Above that, they say it’s not tested or stable. However, Ryzen processors are quite selective about RAM speeds. Some work well at 3600 MHz, others may struggle and run slower. When building a motherboard, the slots are arranged in a specific order (like A2 and B2 being primary), which affects how RAM is installed. If your manual says certain slots are preferred, that’s intentional. But if your Ryzen chip is strict about RAM speed and you try to force it into a different slot, you might run into issues. Using four RAM slots can also lead to lower speeds. I hope this helps clarify things.
