Ryzen 3500x or 3600 offers improved performance compared to previous models.
Hello, you're weighing the Ryzen 3500X and 3600 for gaming and photo editing. Both can handle 1080p games, but whether they match a 3060 or 3070 depends on your needs. For 4K gaming, you might need a higher-end chip like the 3600. A solid choice for most users is the 3600, while the 3500X offers good performance at a lower price. Enjoy your upgrades!
for the 3070 it’s a solid choice in most scenarios, though not always. Unless you reduce the resolution, the CPU won’t be the main bottleneck—1080p still delivers around 200 FPS in modern AAA titles, especially with high settings or ultra modes. Resolution plays a bigger role than CPU here, so upgrading to 4K on a 3600+3070 setup might help, but you’ll likely see no significant gain beyond 1080p. Unless your GPU is already maxed out for that resolution, going to 1440p at 144Hz could be a better bet. If you’re into AAA games or 4K60, the 3600x is still viable today and probably will remain so for another few years—just a guess.
If you want higher performance, a Ryzen 5 5600X would suit 1080p well for single-threaded tasks, giving you stable frame rates. For competitive play, the 3600x remains solid, though.
These processors and graphics cards offer solid performance, and the RTX 3070 will handle more demanding tasks without major limitations. The choice really depends on your gaming preferences and budget.
I own a 3600XT that performs well. It runs at 4475 with three cores and 4625 on the others, handling heavy loads around 4300 with PBO turned on. I got it because the 5600X wasn't available at the same price as a standard 3600. Nice CPU! The 5600X is definitely better though.
