You need to raise the voltage slightly to reach 3.7GHz while keeping the frequency at 3.2GHz. The exact increase depends on your motherboard and chipset, but typically a small boost around 0.1-0.3V is sufficient. Check your system requirements and test carefully.

Absolutely, I get that point. Precision Boost performs adequately, and the 1700 model isn't typically associated with heavy overclocking.

Max safe voltage for those chips is 1.4V. At 1700s running at that level, you typically reach around 3.9GHz. To maintain 3.7GHz, expect closer to 1.3V. If you're adjusting manually, aim for 3.9GHz instead.

Currently, tuning most CPUs isn't very important. The main gains used to come from specialized chips in 2004 where you could jump from 1.8GHz to 2.7 or in 2006 when a 2GHz chip reached about 4GHz. ---- With the 1700, you increased the boost factor for the CPU. You'd configure it to 37 for 3.7GHz. You could use the default voltage or a slightly higher setting. The 1700 was essentially the last model worth tweaking and only really helps with heavy compute tasks, offering little advantage for lightly threaded applications since it brings performance close to what it could be out of the box for such workloads.

You access the BIOS settings, set the CPU multiplier to 39 for a target speed of 3.9GHz, then tweak the VCore voltage starting at 1.35V. Run standard stress tests like OCCT, Linpack, or Prime95. If instability occurs, raise the voltage until it stabilizes, note around 1.4V, and consider lowering the multiplier if needed. For overheating issues, reduce voltage until temperatures normalize, possibly adjusting the multiplier as well. If everything holds steady, you can experiment with higher multipliers.
