Hi everyone, I've been facing some problems with my GPU lately. The fan on my far-right GPU has started vibrating or grinding, especially when it reaches about 70% speed during games—it makes a really bothersome noise. I'm considering returning it since it's still under warranty, but I'm trying to decide if staying without the card for at least a month is worth it. Could the noise affect my card further, or is this just a minor issue?
If the fan bearing is broken and causing vibrations, it may lead to further damage and the fan could stop working completely. You might want to reduce the fan speed below 70% to prevent this (provided temperatures stay safe). The card itself remains unaffected, but I’d recommend sending it back via RMA as soon as possible since a new card shouldn’t have this problem.
Why is going to take a month? Fan can potentially fail and that'll affect cooling a good bit, no other damage though. I'd RMA it. Call them, do a Cross Ship RMA. They'll send you one and you send yours in. They fix yours or let you keep the new one, if yours is a warranty issue. Otherwise you return theirs and they give you yours back. Either way, won't take a month.
