Rx560 is weird
Rx560 is weird
Afternoon,
I'm getting really confused about this issue.
My setup includes a 650w power supply, an i5 4690k processor, 16gb RAM, and a gigabyte GA z87 hd3 graphics card.
I also have a sapphire pulse rx560, but it doesn’t appear on this machine.
The Rx560 works fine on other systems, running benchmarks without problems.
However, when I install it again, the display disappears completely.
I've tried changing the power supply, clearing graphics drivers, and using different PCI slots.
The fans spin, but nothing else happens.
I've also had it connected once before, installed the drivers, and after rebooting it vanished.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
That seems unusual. The board should handle it. It includes UEFI BIOS which is required for that kind of card. Have you updated the BIOS on your motherboard to the latest version?
This might fix the issue quickly.
Edit: Newer cards such as Rx4xx/5xx and GTX10xx series do not work with older motherboards that have the old Award BIOS. These newer cards need the UEFI BIOS to function properly. That's what I was referring to by 'type of card'. Apologies if it wasn't clear.
Thank you for your message. The original model had the bios version f6, I've upgraded to f8, but the problem continues—maybe trying f7 would help? It's just strange.
Appreciate your understanding.
Thanks again for your prompt response.
Don't stress too much. Adding a tag for GPU or another PC category might help with broader guidance.
Sometimes rolling back the BIOS isn't worth the effort—it can be tricky and some motherboards won't support it without a solution. You could attempt it if your system has a rollback option, especially for the F7 model.
Check if your power supply is modular or semi-modular. You might be able to swap out the PCI-e cable and avoid issues if your setup needs a different power connection, like the one required by your RX560.
The rx560 uses the motherboard power directly without a separate cable. I also tested another PSU to check if the problem was with the current one. This was why I tried the quaddro k2000 for testing. The fans on the rx560 are spinning but not visible, possibly indicating it won't function properly.
