I recently pushed my RX 7800 XT Red Devil to its limits and might have damaged it. I've tested various drivers, re-seated the GPU, and changed the BIOS settings from OC to Silent. So far, only that adjustment helped. I'm worried it could be too late—I might have fried the GPU. Underclocking afterward didn't show any issues, but I'm concerned about stability. After a crash, my PC had to power off completely, which made me think multiple times before finding something working. 2024-01-08 18-05-00 - Trim(1).mp4

Check if the artifacting occurs during GPU overclocking or returns to normal operation.

Overclocking shouldn't damage your GPU if you just used a regular program like MSI Afterburner. If this is the only place you see these artifacting then I wouldn't worry at all. FH5 has quite a few visual bugs, I have encontered a few with different GPU's.

I was adjusting the clock speed using the AMD tool, but AMD's overclocking behaves very differently compared to Nvidia, even when using MSI Afterburner.

You remain safely within voltage boundaries, making it improbable to destroy the card without using a shunt modification or BIOS update on AMD systems. The chance of causing any harm is extremely low. I've been pushing CPUs and GPUs from various brands for over two decades without ever experiencing damage.

Sure, I get it. Just trying to stay calm and think things through. Hope everything is okay on its own.

Probably yes, I’ve spent hundreds of hours on FH5 and still encounter visual issues like flickering textures, black roads without details, and menu screens drifting into space. It feels a bit like the Bethesda experience for driving games—though not that extreme. If I compiled all the glitches from FH4 to FH5, it would take about five hours. Unlikely you’ve harmed your card with simple overclocking tools. Boosting core or memory clocks won’t hurt your GPU if it crashes. Just relax and enjoy playing again!

If it occurs in other titles, there might be an issue with the VRAM on the card. Poor VRAM performance can lead to flickering or artifacts. If you manage to return it within the warranty period, proceed—this is what happened with my two cards that failed over time because of bad VRAM. I only ever kept them unoverclocked.
