Rust performance problem in window mode.
Rust performance problem in window mode.
Hey, I've been trying to figure out why I get very low FPS while playing Rust sometimes. I was playing around with the game in windowed mode and noticed that if I had the game window more to the left of my screen I would get 100+ FPS int he client, but then if I moved the game client window to the right of my screen the FPS in-game would drop to 50 fps. There is literally this vertical line on my screen where if a game in window mode cross that lines the FPS gets halved. I cannot for the line of my figure out how this could even be possible or why. I'm currently running a GTX 1080, i7-4790k, 16 gigs ram, H97-Gaming 3 motherboard in Windows 7 Pro. I have a 27 Inch Agon AG271QX 144hz monitor with a dual screen setup, the other monitor 24inch 60Hz screen. I have tried disconnecting that screen and it does not affect this weird issue I'm experiencing, I am also running the latest Nvidia drivers which I updated to today as well. No change. If I place my client here on this side of the screen I get 100+ FPS Spoiler If I move the window to this side of my screen I get 50-60 FPS, Spoiler Basically, if I move my game client past this red line my FPS drops down to less than 60 for some reason, Spoiler So this means I can make my game client this big without any FPS drops, but as soon as I stretch the game client 1 pixel more to the right over where this magical verticle line is my FPS drops to 50, Spoiler When I run the game in full screen my FPS is just be limited at the 50-60 range (Full screen and windowed, it does go above 60 from time to time so it's not verticle sync, plus full my monitor refresh rate is 144Hz anyway). Also, it doesn't matter what graphics settings I have the game on, maxed or minimum, even running the game at a non-2k resolution I have this same issue with not getting above 60 FPS, or getting 100+ fps while my game client isn't going past this red line. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
It really doesn't depend on the specific settings I pick. Raising or lowering everything consistently causes the same problem—client performance drops to half its FPS when the window is placed to the side, and full screen only reduces it further to around 50-60. I've experienced solid FPS before, but lately it's been unpredictable, often dropping to 50-60 with a noticeable lag, making it feel much slower than expected. It seems like the game is designed so that my FPS stays in either the high or low range, regardless of adjustments.
It seems the issue lies in how the game client is positioned relative to your screen. When you shift the window to the right, the rendering area changes, affecting frame rates. The consistent high FPS might be due to optimized settings or a different display configuration.
