The console supports any operating system created by Sony, but Windows won’t work on it.

In theory, if hackers managed to install Linux on it, they might be able to get Windows installed too. However, this could surprise you: the PS4 isn’t really a PC-compatible device. You can’t run a standard Linux distribution on a PS4 since the system relies on features it doesn’t possess. Most of the functionality is outdated, and there’s little reason for a PS4 to need technology from an IBM 5150. Because Windows is built around the same expectations as a PC-compatible distro, it won’t function properly. Unlike Linux, you probably can’t modify Windows to make it work. In theory, though, you could run Linux on a PS4 and then use a virtual machine to run Windows. Just keep in mind that having an x86 processor doesn’t automatically mean it’s a PC.

The operating system must be compatible with both the motherboard and the processor.

It would mean no drivers are present on it.
