I just completed my first build and wanted to find out the maximum overclocking potential. My setup includes an i5-9600k, cm hyper 212 evo, asus rog strix z390-e, and a 650 watt psu. What are the safe limits I can reach? I’ve heard the 212 evo has a 180 tdp and my unclocked CPU is at 95, so what’s the actual ceiling?

The temperature will rise sharply with that cooler. The 9600k features six physical cores, which renders the Evo outdated in terms of overclocking since it struggles to manage excessive heat. Cryorig is now considered the updated version of Evo.

This cooler is so bad when you want to overclock.

Using the kiss method is nice. I need to get a water cooler soon.

SR-71 doesn't hide its intentions... Its reply is based on the reality that you invested a lot in the CPU but saved on the cooler.
Absolutely, you should consider matching it with a decent cooler if you're looking to get good value from a K CPU. Don't dismiss air coolers either; there might be options you like.
