Running overclock on a 6600k using a cooler that handles high-end RAM.
Hello,
I was thinking about purchasing a Be Quiet BK010 Shadow Rock Slim CPU cooler to boost my 6600k. I’m avoiding an AIO because I don’t want any risk of leaks.
Here are my current specs (excluding the cooler):
- EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW
- Intel i5-6600K CPU
- Asus Z170-A Motherboard
- Corsair Vengeance 16GB RAM
- Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 SSD
- Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glass
Case
- Be Quiet 800W Power Supply
Appreciate your help.
I have some concerns regarding your power supply.
Shadowrock slim is a suitable CPU cooler for light overclocking.
The cooler should work fine. I could recommend a cryorig H7 that would be cheaper. For the optimal choice, a noctua NH-U12s is best.

what model is it? might fail over time.
This is the model.

Would you recommend a better one that is still quiet?

Would the NOCTUA NH-U12S provide sufficient clearance for this ram setup?
Yes, the smaller variants were updated to accommodate taller ram heat spreaders and are slightly offset to free up space behind graphics cards in the first slot.
There is 41mm of clearance available.
Your ram measures 49mm in height.
Place it in the farther slots and it should be fine.
