Hey, I was thinking about setting up an air message on my phone. I realize you need a Mac that supports iMessage. I won’t go for a used Mac Mini; instead, I have two older Macs—an old PowerBook G4 and another probably a PowerMac. Both run macOS 10.1. Still, can I install Sierra on either of them? I know these machines aren’t the latest, but they just need to handle iMessage. On another note, my PowerBook tends to freeze when posting, especially during the Apple logo loading or after it appears. If I manage it, the Mac should stay responsive for at least 30 minutes or more and run smoothly. The one I have has a fresh OS install, a brand new motherboard, and a new HDD. Sometimes the Mac freezes completely before the screen loads, causing the fans to spin loudly.

MacOS no longer supports PowerPC chips starting from version 10.6.x, meaning older systems won't work with features beyond Snow Leopard. This shift is part of Apple's move to Intel processors.

These setups are quite outdated for Sierra. You should consider Intel Macs for IMESSAGE since they support up to 10.5 and PowerPC is limited. Wouldn't it be better to use a Mac Mini for IMESSAGE instead?

No, devices running PowerPC can only handle versions up to 10.5. These systems are considered outdated.

Do you think there might be an issue with the PowerBook? Also, great spot at Crunchy Dragon—cool Whovian vibe!
