8700k msi z370 a-pr model downclocks from 4.9ghz to 3.6ghz just before completing cinebench. All cores overclocked at 4.9ghz in fixed mode. Voltage line stays tight with minimal drop. Intel turbo boost turned off, AVX offset set to 0. No VRM throttling detected. CPU temps remain under 80°C. Everything worked smoothly after adjusting voltage and current protection settings.

Your power management is configured to wait for a need before applying changes, so ensure you're in performance mode. The balanced option won't activate optimization until required.

I’d consider reducing the load line (it sometimes works for me). Did you also unlock the power settings for the CPU? Just turning them off for your VRM won’t disable them for you.

It seems this happens consistently or only at the end? If it runs all the time... likely an AVX offset is involved, leading the CPU to slow down during cinebench (which supports AVX). Otherwise, it might relate to Windows power settings.

The AVX offset remains at 0, all CPU power configurations are set to auto, and adjustments have been made without any changes. Over-voltage, under-voltage, current, switching frequency, and VRM temperature settings haven't affected the results. This behavior is unusual—nothing similar has occurred before. It might indicate a faulty CPU.

I also observed that after the benchmark-stress test concludes, the CPU returns to 4.9GHz.

It could be thermal throttling without you realizing it, plus could you share your full system details? The PSU specs would also be useful, even if I doubt it’s the main problem.

In AIDA64 I saw no thermal throttling, but the CPU starts downclocking before reaching its maximum frequency. Also, after some time the clock drops to around 3.2GHz in the FPU.
