I'm exploring whether anyone has tried setting up a VNC server like remmina on Chrome OS. My goal is to help my grandparents with their Chromebook, which is their only device they own. They often struggle with Chrome's interface and can't reach the remote connection shortcut needed to join Chrome RDP. I'd prefer a VNC server so they can connect anytime their internet works. Does installing such a server in the Linux container on Chrome OS work? Is there existing support for VNC servers in this environment?

Need a consistent IP address for VNC servers? Tools like TeamViewer use TURN/STUN servers to bypass firewalls and port forwarding. I’m not sure about other options, but that seems to be the approach you’re looking for.

I’d rather not forward ports, but I’m ready if needed. From what I understand, TeamViewer only offers an app to watch other sessions, not to host one myself.
