Gigabye Z390 Gaming M (8700 locked) and ASRock Z370 Extreme 4 (9400 locked) are priced above 103, which isn't great. It seems the older models could be more manageable.

I understand you mentioned it was just a joke. I settled around 4.4 GHz (close to 4.375 GHz), but I didn’t want to run core voltage at 1.4V continuously. It seems some users can get their i3-6100s to 4.7 GHz without issues, though I’m not sure they checked for stability. They might just start Windows and crash under stress tests. Still, what’s the benefit of overclocking if it leads to instability?

After updating my BIOS, I discovered that the new version limits overclocking to 4.0 GHz. I’m not sure about other models, but Z170s running older BIOS versions can still take advantage of the Sky Boost OCR feature for higher overclocks.

It becomes quite pointless after adding modern storage solutions—NVMe isn’t suited for handling those large spikes.

I wasn't aware of that, thankfully I didn't end up purchasing one. I was actually contemplating buying a new setup to store my games. I think I'll get a fresh rig soon, and this one feels quite old (it's been around for about four years). I'm glad it lasted so long and considering Oc's situation. Since I bought this CPU for $78 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday four years ago, it was really impressive.

It's unusual to design a motherboard for BCLK OC while also including an NVME slot that doesn't support it. I need to research further to see if any boards handle NVME well with high BCLK OC capabilities.

It worked out okay for you. The issue with removing the delay was that you might damage the CPU without a clear reason, but since it didn’t happen, lower temperatures seem beneficial.
