I’ve faced GPU utilization issues for a long time. I’ve adjusted many settings through the NVIDIA control panel and MSI afterburner, yet my CPU handles most of the work while my GPU remains idle. I’m now considering a 1440p monitor as a potential solution to resolve the bottleneck. Is this the only fix? Should I run DDU or is there something else I should be aware of? Here are my specs: RTX 3060 Ti, i5 11400f, MSI 165Hz Optix 1080p, 16Gb dual channel DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Upgrading to a new monitor won’t solve all the problems. You might still be able to maintain the same frame rate at higher resolutions, which could make your GPU work harder—though it’s not ideal if you’re struggling with the display. If you’re not seeing the expected FPS on the screen, the main fix might lie in a faster CPU.

To highlight GPU usage, increase the resolution to 4K. Provide clear examples and we’ll start assisting further—such as game benchmarks, hardware monitoring screenshots, etc.

They’re after a fully functional monitor. Checked if the system is operating at 100%. Also looked into adjusting the Windows power options.

The system performs fairly evenly: in most titles, GPU usage is very high at 1080p and ultra settings. They seem to be facing issues or running CPU-heavy games like CS2. @Skillinky tell me which games you're playing and what settings you're using—what actual GPU utilization are you observing?

You don’t have to invest in a new monitor just to try it out. It seems his problem might not be related to hardware. Since there’s limited information here, we’ll need to dig deeper to find the root cause.

I can't capture or share photos directly from Task Manager during a game. However, you can check the performance tab yourself to see what's happening. Adjusting graphics settings like DirectX12 and Vulkan might help improve stability. Let me know if you'd like tips on optimizing those settings! What games are you observing this in more often?

Adjust the display settings to use 4K resolution by accessing the system preferences or graphics settings and selecting a higher native resolution, such as 3840x2160. If supported, ensure the monitor is calibrated for 4K output.

In the game, have you ever chosen a setting that exceeds what your screen can show?

Absolutely, that's correct. The resolution is limited to 1080p.
