In short, after all the cable melt news it made me a bit concerned. I ran a "load" test—just like Indiana Jones on full power for about an hour—and got a stable of 560 Watts with the GPU temperature hitting 75°C. The connector readings were between 78-80°C, while the cable itself was around 72°C. It wasn’t simple to measure each cable, but the difference between the hottest and coldest cables stayed under 7°C. Is 80°C a concern for an hour at maximum load?

Which power supply unit are you employing? Was it included with the correct connector, or did you need to employ a converter?

No adapter needed. The correct cable is the nzxt 1200C 1200W PSU.

80C equals 176F, but that seems extremely high to me.

It seems to be right at the point where the cable meets the GPU. I assume the temperature will be highest there.

Can MSI Afterburner manage GPU fans and does high temperature occur during gaming or when idle? Yes, it can work, though with the 5090 and melted cables it's a concern—hopefully it doesn't happen to you.

Yeah, I guess it will get warm with that 560W, but I don’t have many references to go on. I haven’t reached out yet. I’d estimate it’s usually around 70-73 degrees, though it hit 80 at one specific moment. I think the heat might be coming from the GPU as well, affecting the pins.
When I measure close to less than an inch away, the cables are consistently between 64-68.
Not very straightforward measuring temperatures with a pizza thermometer, haha.

If NZXT answers in a timely fashion, I'll share the response. Lots of other traffic on this general topic, as I am sure you are aware. For example: https://forums.
