RTX 3090 experiences significant throttling, seeking advice if needed.
The area is experiencing high temperatures, possibly causing performance reduction.
I plan to attempt it tomorrow. I'll share the outcomes once it's done.
The airflow management focuses on the two quiet fans. If they work, start by relocating the rear fan forward; you don’t require an exhaust but need airflow directed toward the GPU. Next, test running without the front panel that restricts air intake. Regarding VRAM temps, consider undervolting for better efficiency without sacrificing performance—it’s simple and saves energy. Repasting can be tricky (I just updated my 3070), but using proper thermal pads helps. Edited June 1, 2025 by leclod
Checking the videos for thermal pad replacement tips, which ones should you choose? You might ask the store staff to help with that. The fan concept isn’t bad, actually—you could consider purchasing three more Noctua fans if you haven’t done so in a while.
the situation isn't ideal for airflow. if the gpu runs around 75% at a room temperature of about 20°C, keeping the space at 30°C is likely to push it near its maximum limit.
First I'd focus on boosting airflow and consider undervolting. Taking it slow works well. Repasting could be unnecessary if airflow improves. Have you cleaned the dust from the card? Try blowing air through the gaps in the fan blades. Does your case have a dust filter at the front? If so, clean it occasionally. Noctua fans are excellent, but cheaper options like the Arctic P14 work just fine. Updated June 1, 2025 by leclod
Sure, I agree. I'll attempt to remove the side panel before reapplying the GPU if there are no further updates. I might check for new thermal pads or wait until October, lol.
Updated briefly: I took out the side panel to check its effect on GPU temperatures. It appears the clocks are running at 1350Mhz but cooler than before, which is interesting. I’m currently on a lunch break and won’t test further now. After work, I plan to visit the hardware store for thermal paste, pads, and some new fans. Good to know my PC isn’t as dusty as it used to be after eight hours of daily use for over two years. I’ll post the updated status tonight once everything is set. Thanks for your advice so far.
