Your ASUS TUF Gaming F15 appears to experience performance problems. While playing games and interacting with friends in Fortnite or other titles, your GPU usage drops significantly—from 90-100% to around 55%-75%—while CPU stays near 50%–65%. This leads to frequent stuttering and freezing, even when FPS is high, which feels unusual. I believe the RTX 3050 laptop GPU and Intel Core i5-11400H with 16GB RAM were a good setup, but these results suggest otherwise. My laptop also struggles under high performance settings; it seems to run best in balanced mode. Game settings are optimized via GeForce Experience, yet the issue persists. In Windows Graphics Settings, games are set to high performance, and in the NVIDIA Control Panel, the preferred processor is dGPU—implying integrated graphics aren’t being used. I’ve tried disabling background processes and startup apps, but it makes no difference. Removing the game bar usually helps, though it doesn’t resolve the core problem. I suspect a software glitch, possibly related to recent updates. The minimum processor power state is set to 5% when charging, and maximum to 100% when plugged in, even though it’s always on. I’ve also tried DDU, but the issue has persisted for some time. It seems to have started around Windows 22H2 (Build 22621.2134). Other details are available in the attached images. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Settings, actual FPS, and temperatures—let me know what you need!
Thanks for the update. Game configurations adjusted via GeForce Experience or directly in the game. My chosen graphics card in NVIDIA Control Panel is set to high-performance NVIDIA processor, each game configured for top graphics performance. Game mode is active. Frames range from 110 to 130 FPS with 1 to 5 players nearby, but during actual play (such as Fortnite) it often drops to around 60 FPS. Even at these levels, the experience feels choppy, likely due to inconsistent frame rates. My CPU temperature used to consistently reach 90-97°C, now it stays between 80-86°C despite no changes.
F15 received a major chipset upgrade that addressed many temperature and power concerns. My partner also benefited. Avoid most of these changes. Lower texture settings again, along with effects and post-processing. Reduce 3D resolution to 78% or apply Medium TSR. If running on DX11, switch to DX12. Don’t forget to install all drivers and use the quote button to get a reply.
Games compatible with DirectX 12 perform much better (Fortnite). Those limited to DirectX 11 are struggling. Thanks a lot! It looks like the issue has improved. Using turbo helped too, preventing CPU overheating. Likely the problem isn’t starting again, as it did before. Post-processing and visual effects are major factors in performance. Other DirectX 11 games still show high GPU usage, usually around 50%-60%.
You've observed a discrepancy between your reported 80 FPS and the actual performance issues you're experiencing.
