RTX 2060 Super performance at high temperatures
Hey, a while back I bought a used Gigabyte Windforce OC 2060s. At that time it was placed on top of my Dell 9010 SFF with a riser cable and I didn’t notice any overheating problems. I’m aware the GPU was heavily dependent on the CPU. I later picked up another machine with an R5 2600, Gigabyte B450m board, 64GB Patriot Viper RAM in an Antek case. It has two 120mm fans front and one rear, all set correctly. Originally the GPU would throttle after just a couple minutes of gaming. I removed the cooler and reworked the die. Now the card starts throttling after about ten minutes. Making a custom fan profile in Afterburner with fans at full speed at 60°C doesn’t seem to help much. Before I took off the side panel from the desktop, it would run at around 50°C, while with the panel off it’s now 45°C. The CPU temperatures stayed normal. Would appreciate any advice.
It seems you're looking for increased airflow. You should verify that the fans on the card are running properly, as the only alternative is to lower the settings.
Thanks for your reply. The fans on the card are functioning properly. I’ll install an AIO tomorrow and plan to lower the front intake fans. Even when the card throttles, the clock speed stays at a consistent 1800mHz.
