Hi,
I'm a big fan of Age of Empires but haven't played AoE 3 in a while because of the poor servers from Microsoft. Although AoE 2 has a more active community, I prefer something different and am searching for alternatives. I want to skip games like Dota or LoL, so the best match I found is Company of Heroes 2. However, it's not well optimized and only works on my gaming PC. Do you have any other suggestions?

I have a script for Ashes of the Singularity if it suits your preference.

Is it free? I've been really eager to give it a shot for a while now.

I only have one option on the list that might appeal to me is StarCraft 2, because I enjoyed StarCraft 1 as a child and liked it, but I still prefer AoE.
I just checked the review, it wasn't really my preference.
I'm more interested in resource management and history.

It's a different kind of game compared to AoE, isn't it? Have you thought about Rise of Nations? I really enjoy it and it satisfies my AoE craving. Other options include Age of Mythology, Empire Earth, Warcraft 3, and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds (a fun twist on AoE2 with a Star Wars theme).

0 A.D. seems to have a good vibe, perfect for more AoEish games.

The rise of nations certainly resembles AoE quite a bit. I might give it a shot. Thanks
Very intriguing for a free and open source initiative. I should also try it.

Playing Company of Heroes 2 offers a similar experience. The Total War series manages battles in an RTS manner, with resource control and troop positioning handled through turn-based systems. For a game that feels more like real-time 4X with a sci-fi twist, Sins of a Solar Empire is an excellent choice.
