I bought the ASUS RT-86U and followed their instructions. It works fine with my ISP settings and is online. But changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 causes it to lose internet connection. Asus said the issue is with my ISP, not the router. I spoke to them, and they confirmed the range is great. Stability problems aren’t happening with my current ISP router, though the WiFi speeds are lower than expected for a $400 model. Need advice!

It seems your internet service provider restricts DNS usage to their own servers... Yeah, you're in a tough spot.

Using the ISP modem made it simple to adjust the DNS server.

Alright, I also attempted to turn on features like QoS, but the connection dropped. I’ll need to retry later and note what stops the internet from working, then update this post with details.
