Router TP-Link lacks port forwarding capabilities.
I just switched my home router to a TP-Link Archer A7 (AC1750). Earlier models caused strange speed drops and disconnections. The new one is performing well without issues. My current network runs Verizon FiOS ONT Box → COAX → Verizon Quantum Gateway → DMZ → TP-Link router. I’m considering connecting Ethernet directly from the ONT box to the TP-Link, but for now I’m limited to COAX and the Verizon router. My main problem is that the TP-Link isn’t forwarding ports correctly. At first I thought the Verizon router was interfering, but tests confirm everything goes through the DMZ to the TP-Link. It seems the TP-Link itself isn’t pushing the ports. I double-checked settings and listed ports in the NAT Forwarding menu, but it still doesn’t work. UPNP Port Forwards are functioning normally—devices requesting a port forward should be allowed. Any suggestions? EDIT: And it actually started working without any changes. Time to wrap up.
