Router Help
Hello everyone, I’m looking for advice on networking. In the UK, I use BT as my ISP. The equipment they provide is really poor—constant drops and issues are common. I’m considering upgrading to a better router. The setup is very basic, with DSL coming from the microfilter into the router back. My question: if I get a router with a dedicated DSL port, will it just work out of the box (ignoring setup)? Thanks!
Choose a VDSL2 router, it’s likely VDSL2. After setting it up, contact BT to obtain your login credentials so the modem connects properly. I suggest this model—I previously owned the 88U and it performed reliably. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-DSL-AC68U-...298&sr=8-1
RT-ACXXU devices accept Merlin, while DSL-ACXXU models don't unless this changed after my DSL-AC88U ownership.
Really, I've always dreamed of driving Merlin on my 88U, but life got in the way. Still, it's cool that it exists.
