Over the last few days the home wifi would intermittently stop working for about five minutes before coming back on. When I unplugged the router—Rogers provided it—and it didn’t improve the issue. The internet connection would suddenly drop and then reconnect, typically between midnight and around 5 a.m. My mom contacted Rogers today, and the technicians agreed to handle it. However, he mentioned needing to manually clear encrypted data every two or three weeks, which is confusing. Have you heard of this before? Are you sure she’s not doing something unusual?

She reached out to Rogers directly, not through an intermediary. If she’s funding the person doing this, it suggests a potential scam. It doesn’t make sense for Rogers to endorse this action, since it would heavily strain their support staff.

I think the router might require a software upgrade or it could be failing completely and needs to be swapped out.
