ROG b550-F display illuminates but no other functions operate.
Hello, I’m facing some issues with my system. I’ve been adjusting the setup for a few days without success, unplugging everything and testing if any part was faulty, but the ROG symbol keeps lighting up. I’ve also checked the power supply and cables on the motherboard, yet nothing changed. If anyone can assist, it would be really helpful and thanks in advance for your time.
The board isn't designed for the Ryzen 5600X, so you probably need to update the BIOS for that processor. If the board won't accept a BIOS flash without a CPU, it will detect this and you'll need an older CPU like a 3600 to apply the updated BIOS.
5600x requires a minimum BIOS version of 1004. It originally came with BIOS 0315.
I own a 5 GHz processor and examined the CPU; it matches what I received. Initially, I considered the 5600, but later realized it wasn't compatible with the board, so I selected the 5 GHz version.
it should work fine with the bios. i’d remove the cpu and verify the pins are intact, no bends or damage. confirm you have the right 4/8 pin power cable entering the top left of your board from the power supply. ensure the 24-pin cable is securely connected. check that the power switch is on and the correct two pins are set on the front panel header of the motherboard. take everything out from the case and lay it on some cardboard to prevent any electrical shorts from the case. just leave the cpu (with cooler), one stick of ram, and the psu plugged in. see if it powers up—make sure nothing else is connected, no gpu or drives, and no keyboard or mouse.
Sounds good, thanks! I'll let you know how it went. Have a great night.
I've checked all possible solutions and nothing has improved. It seems like a faulty part might be the issue. Still, I appreciate everyone who helped—learning troubleshooting and tactics was really useful. Thanks again! Have a great night. Edited November 28, 2023 by Kawakami
