Guys, I'm wondering when Rocket League will be available on the Epic Store. I understand many of you are against it, but as long as it becomes a mainstream Esports title, I'm okay with their choices. Will Rocket League become free to play if they release it on the Epic Store since Epic offers a much lower cut than Steam? In my view, Epic should improve the UI for their Epic Store because the current one is really poor.

The only solid details we possess are "late 2019." We remain uncertain whether it will become free to play; my position on making assumptions would lean toward a "no." Perspectives differ, and I don’t back Epic’s attempt to dominate the market through exclusive agreements. I often hear negative feedback about their platform, though I haven’t experienced it firsthand. It’s unclear if their storefront and launcher will survive as a trend. They have acknowledged that their current approach isn’t viable. Only when their business model becomes unsustainable will there be less motivation to offer better prices or exclusivity deals, leaving the future of Epic’s success in question.

I don't anticipate free-to-play models. The game is already quite affordable, and it seems all game modes are available for free as well. Only car/skin DLCs exist. It's unusual for Epic to acquire a studio and then take a smaller share; such practices would encourage other developers to release titles on the Epic store. I don't believe this situation will shift significantly (consider the limited non-EA games in Origin or Uplay).
