I shared my account with a friend so he could enjoy GTA and ARK... He also got CSGO, which I understood was fine since we were playing together. We played on some random comp server because he couldn’t play in the regular one (and wasn’t rank 3) and he was really bad. The next day I joined him and he kept trying to mess with me (I’m a lower level). A few weeks later I noticed my VAC ban on my main account. I messaged him and he claimed he hacked to get in because "they were also hacking." Now I have a VAC ban on my main account. Ripidip skins. Yeah, I admit it was my mistake for sharing with him initially. TL;DR: don’t share accounts unless you really trust them—because they might ruin your game and get you banned.

It seems this point was explicitly mentioned in the Family Shaing FAQ and is generally understood.

You didn't notice anything unusual about him acting like he was taking you for granted.

I performed poorly in the game; he mainly played it, excelled on the battlefield, so I assumed he was quick to learn. I also relied on him, assuming he wouldn’t cheat.

Even knowing them in real life doesn’t guarantee they’re okay. I didn’t realize how long the VAC ban appears on your Steam page.

When players view your profile, they might think you're a hacker. It only takes under $20 to tarnish your reputation. That's not a trustworthy connection.
