Hello, I tried a different approach and changed my graphics card to a 4090 (using DDU). The slow right-click behavior on the desktop is normal when clicking folders, files, or the taskbar. However, in Task Manager, the CPU, memory, and disk usage spike for about four seconds before freezing and showing a loading circle. When I switch to Performance mode in Task Manager, disk usage disappears and the list appears normally. This issue only occurs in Safe Mode, where right-clicking works properly again. After reinstalling the GPU driver and restarting the PC just before installing it, the problem resolved temporarily. The graphics card is Asus Tuf X570, BIOS updated, 64GB RAM, AMD 3950X, 1000W PSU. I searched online for solutions but found no effective fixes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's strange what’s going on. My 8TB external drive is connected to my PC, and as soon as I disconnect it, the right-click menu on the desktop returns to its usual state. This isn’t normal—I’ve never experienced something like this before!

The system was putting off actions until all storage devices responded. This means if you connected a network or external drive that wasn’t working, Windows would wait until it could access it or tried everything before giving up. It’s especially frustrating with network shares that keep failing to connect. I’ve removed every network drive mapping and created scripts to handle them when needed, which has slowed down the process significantly.

I'm updating this post since I discovered the issue, not the fix. Brief summary: My 8TB external hard drive (Western Digital MyBook) is frequently used. When disconnected, right-clicking functions properly. But after reconnecting or when the PC restarts, the right-click becomes extremely slow. In Task Manager, Windows Explorer appears to be consuming CPU, memory, and disk resources, gradually increasing until the right-click stops responding. This seems connected to the hard drive, even if it's not in sleep mode. Any suggestions?

It seems like the disk might be failing. Have you checked the chkdsk utility? Also, verify that the drive is securely connected to the board. I’ve experienced this situation before.

I ran a chkdsk scan and found nothing. That seems odd. According to CrystalDiskInfo, the hard drive shows a good status with all blue indicators.

The storage device uses exeFAT format, which supports larger files than NTFS. It might be connected to the issue. Could this be the cause? This seems like the most reasonable next step—I’ll attempt to remove it.

I started using it and put the drive into the PC via SATA, but the issue still exists. The real reason I'm frustrated is that the problem emerged only after swapping out the graphics card.
